Since February 24th when the Russian Federation invaded the Ukraine we have purposely held back from posting any detail on the web site so that we could help preserve the safety, security and privacy of all peoples that we have been involved with. Much information has been emailed to the precious followers and prayer partners of the ministry. We feel that now is the right time to share through the web site some of the activity since February 24th.

Baby Orphanage in Odesa

Some amazing things have happened, and some great opportunities have opened up for us, out of this ugly and senseless war. We have received a request from the Disabled Baby Orphanage in Odesa that we have supported for many years, to help evacuate them from Ukraine – 86 children, 9 special-needs children, 25 vital staff members. Sasha, our European manager, has been checking with some doctors in Germany to see if there is a suitable building available. A suitable facility in Berlin has been found, and we’ve got the approval of the German authorities. We’re just waiting for the Ukrainian authorities to agree with the evacuation. We have to promise that we’ll return all the children safely to Ukraine when this war is over. We’ll also have to acquire big vans or busses to move these children and their life support equipment. What a challenge, but these children are very special to God, and to us.

Ongoing Ministry through the House of Hope in Odesa

Vitaly and his small team have made many evacuation runs out of Ukraine since the House of Hope Children were settled in Dusseldorf three weeks ago.
Odesa Jewish Families being rescued and evacuated. Some are coming to the House of Hope to find a way to escape Ukraine. We didn’t have look for them. They found their way to the House of Hope. Amazing!

No one wanted to have anything to do with one family - as they have a little boy, rather like a disabled child in the Baby Orphanage we support, they were saying that it was too much trouble. Vitaly and his team made a bed for him in the back of the van. It was not easy for that little guy but it’s the way to better life for him. Vitaly drove them Jewish family from Odesa through Moldova and on to the Bucharest train station, in Romania. He put them on a train to Düsseldorf. He told them about Jesus, their Messiah, whom we are serving. Then A****, his daughter, travelled with them on the train to Munich and on to Düsseldorf.
Peter collected them from the train station and took them straight to the refugee registry to get registered and allocated temporary housing. They are stunned that they are safe. Now they are being loved, provided for and accommodated by the Jewish Messianic Congregations in Dusseldorf.

O*** - Peter’s wife, volunteers at the Dusseldorf Registry to assist their registration as refugees. The main issue is to help people all the way to accommodation in Dusseldorf, not just get them out of Ukraine, and then have no place to go afterwards.

N**** from Child Protection Services in Odesa, with whom we worked for two years searching for orphans who had been evicted from their boarding schools during the early Covid era, has asked to be evacuated with her family. That is already in motion.

Ongoing Mercy Ministries to the Odesa Villages

In the meantime, the poor and needy from the villages in the Odesa Province keep coming to the House of Hope begging for food and medicines. Vitaly and our remaining team at the House of Hope keep driving out to the remote villages on Rescue Missions. Some of the records they keep for me, show that in the 2 years since the start of the Covid-19 era, and into the war period, our local teams have visited over 480 villages (some repeatedly where there were a lot of orphans who were released from their closed-down boarding schools) and drove over 75,000 kms on shockingly rough roads- even worse now. They reached some 8,000 needy families with Survival Packs of non-perishable foods and basic medicines. They shared the gospel with over 14,900 adults and children, leading them to Christ, and giving out over 13,000 beautiful hard-covered picture Bibles. I previously, mentioned that many of these poor people couldn’t wait for our teams to return 2 weeks later, and so took food and hygiene products to their neighbours, read the gospel message to them from their Bibles, and led them to Christ. Then they gave their neighbours a Bible. I have since heard that they have been meeting like this ever since. Incredible - these untrained village people started their own “House Churches”. I am told that some of the very elderly Ukrainian pastors are saying that this season has seen the largest spread of God’s word and more people coming to Christ than in the past 200 years. And this through the efforts of raw teenagers rescued from the ghettos. All credit to our local teams for their efforts for Jesus.
